Lauren Williams
oboe
Oboist Lauren Williams is a versatile, exciting musician and teaching artist active in the New York City area. Her performances have been praised by the New York Times, the Charleston Post and Courier, and the Santa Barbara News-Press, among others, and she is dedicated to promoting and performing new works for her instrument.
As an orchestral musician, Lauren has performed with the New York City Ballet, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. She has received fellowships from the Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, and has performed with the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she has performed in the Kyoto International Music Festival in Japan, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and on WFMT Chicago's Live from Studio One series.
A 2010 Presidential Scholar in the Arts, Lauren completed her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at The Juilliard School in 2014 and 2016, as a student of Elaine Douvas and Nathan Hughes. While at Juilliard, she frequently performed as a member of AXIOM, including in the 2013 Helsinki Festival in Finland. Upon completing her Bachelor degree, she was the recipient of the John Erskine Commencement Prize for scholastic and musical achievement.
